Moss was born February 13, 1977. He is an American football player. He was a
former American footballer who played for 14 seasons within the National
Football League (NFL) which included the Minnesota Vikings and Oakland Raiders
and the New England Patriots and Tennessee Titans. Together with Jerry Rice, he
is generally regarded as the most outstanding wide receiver to ever play. Moss
holds the NFL single-year touchdown reception record (23 in 2007), and the first
NFL single season touchdown reception record (17 in 1998). Moss is second in
the NFL all-time regular season touchdown receptions list with 156. Moss is
known for his ability get contested catches. The word "mossed" was
coined by the NFL and has now entered the vocabulary of football, became
popularized because of this. Following football, he began working with ESPN as
an analyst in its studios for the Sunday NFL Countdown and Monday Night
Countdown programs. Moss was born in Rand, West Virginia. He was a student at
DuPont High School. It was one of two schools that was later amalgamated into
Riverside High School. There he excelled at football, basketball track, as well
as other sports. Randy was also a member of the school's debate team. Moss led
the DuPont Panthers football team to two consecutive state championships in
1992 and 1993. Moss was a star wide receiver. He also played as a free safety
and punt return. He received the Kennedy Award in 1994 as West Virginia's
Football Player of Year. Parade magazine named him to their All-American
high-school football teams in the year 1995. In 2009 they named him one of the
50 greatest high-school football players of all-time.
